COMMITTEE MEETS
HAURAKI RUGBY UNION PLAYER ORDERED OFF MANAGERS FOR SATURDAY A meeting of the management committee of the Hauraki Plains Rugby Union was held last Monday evening at Ngatea when the following were present:—Mr H. Kennedy (president), Messrs J. Carr and R. Williams (Ngatea), T. Perry and C. Maxwell (Miranda), M. Anderson and W. Costello (Patetonga), T. Jordan and J. Millington (Kerepehi), C. K. Fox (Turua), T. Roberts and L. Bladder (Waitakaruru), N. Wallace (life member), S. Fisher and G. Ashford (invitation), R. A. Harris (secretary) and L. Sherlock (treasurer). M atch Waith Waiuku The meeting resolved that the secretary write to the Waiuku club explaining the position and stating that at the present time the Hauraki Plains union was committed but if it was possible to arrange a match then the Waiuku club would be communicated with. It was decided to accept the offer made by the Franklin union ter senior and junior representative matches to be played at Waitakaruru. Matches With Thames The action of the president in arranging matches with the Thames union for August 5 was endorsed and it was resolved that the Thames union be requested to commence the games not later than 2 p.m. The following managers were appointed for the five teams to play at Thames: —Senior A, Mr R. Williams; senior B, Mr W. Costello; junior A, Mr T. Roberts; junior B, Mr L. Blackler; third grade, Mr Ashford. Mr A. Wilson, referee in a junior match between Waitakaruru and Miranda last week-end, reported that he had ordered a player off the field. It was decided that both the referee and the player in question be asked to attend the next meeting of the management committee. A motion that the player be stood 1 down until he appeared before the committee was lost. Life Members The presidemt congratulated Mr Norman Wallace upon his long years service to 'Rugby on the Plains and said that the well merited the life member’s badge which it was his pleasure to donate. The president also said the same applied to Mr Theo Evans, who through ill health could not be present, and he asked Mr Pierry to give Mr Evans his badge. Mr Norman Wallace said that he greatly appreciated the honour and that the was delighted to see the keen enthusiasm of the union and players which existed today.
