SUCCESSFUL DANCE

INDOOR BASKETBALL CLUB PRESENTATION OF TROPHIES' The Paeroa Indoor Basketball Club held their annual dance in the Hikutaia hall, on Saturday last,- and a most enjoyable time was had by the large crowd present. Two buses run from Paeroa enabled many local residents to attend, as well as members of the visiting basketball teams from Whakatane, Waitoa and Thames, who bad beeri competing in the all-day tournament at Paeroa. Also present

was a football team from Manurewa, Who had played against Paeroa junior A representative team. The ever popular music of the Music Masters from Thames, and the excellent manner in which Mr Maurice Saunders acted as M.C., combined to make the dancing go with a swing and went a long way towards making the function the success whtich it unundoubtedly was. A feature of the evening was the presentation of the cups to the winning teams. The men’s tournament was won by Thames A team and their captain, Elder Gregson, received the cup on behalf of his team. The Paeroa ladies A team was successful in winning the ladies’ section, and

this cup was presented to their captain, Miss A. Treanor. Miss Maureen Coakley of Thames and partner, were the lucky winners of the Monte Carlo dance. Music for the extra, which was greatly appreciated by the dancers, was played by Messrs F. and E. Smith and V. McCollum of Hikutaia.
