WHERE DOES IT GO?

HEADQUARTERS EXES.

TECHNICAL STAFFS

WORK OF FEDERATED FARMERS

“Why does the Dominion central body take ®o much of our money?” asked Mr A. F. Thorp at the recent meeting at Thames of the Northern Thames Sub-pro-vincial executive of Federated Farmers.

Federated Farmers was a pariament in itself, said Mr S. E. Hall, chairman of the meeting, who explained that the federation was now a power in the land and its representatives were now appointed' to ai number of important statutory bodies. To enable its representatives to carry out their duties effectivly on matters of great importance to the farming industry it was most necessary that the most reliable sources of information' was made available to the federation. That meant staff, said Mr Hall.

There was a large and technical staff and the cost of the staff in Wellington was £lo,ooo' to £ll,OOO per annum, added Mr Hall. Some information should be given to branches as to where the money goes, said Mr J. E. Silcock, who raised the question that the branches should have more money made available for their working expenses. 'Costs had to be matched, said the chairman, but branches could write in and obtain funds for purposes considered reasonable.

The value of the work carried out by the federation was now well recognised, said Mr Hall, who informed the meeting that the federation had just been paid £3500 by statutory boards.
