ACCESS TO DOMAIN

REQUEST FROM TURUA METALLED ROAD WANTED POPULARITY OF THE AREA A request that Raupoiti street, Turua be repaired so as to give better access to the Turua domain was made in a letter from the Turua Domain Board to the June meeting of the Hauraki Plains County Council. The board claimed that the road was in bad condition and would get much worse in wet weather.

“The grounds are very popular for football and the traffic which includes buses is heavy and my board considers that they are justified in again asking your council to have the road metalled and made fit for use this winter,” stated the letter from the board.

Cr. A. H. Sutton spoke in support of the request stressing the value of metalling the road. Only about five or six chains of metalling was required.

It was agreed that the work be done if and When the metal was available and conditions permitted.
