DANCER’S SUCCESS
WAITAKARURU GIRL
WINS JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIP
High honours were secured by eight-year-old Jeanette Roberts, daughter of Mr and Mrs T. Roberts of Waitakaruru, in the dancing contests of # the recent Rotorua competitions festival. Jeanette won the junior championship on points in f our classes of the fancy dancing and four classes in Highland dancing for competitors 12 years and under. Her performances are a remarkable list of successes for a girl of eight years. Four first prizes were won by Jeanette in the Highland dancing section, two firsts for skipping and tap dancing. In addition two second awards were secured, one being for a character dancer, the other for dancing in a duo tap dance with Laurel Daley of Morrinsville. In the ballet dancing for girls under nine years Jeanette was placed third and she was highly commended in two other events.
