SNOW BOUND

HAURAKI PLAINS PARTY YOUNG FARMERS’ CLUB MAROONED IN SOUTH OTAGO Several members of the Hauraki Young Farmers’ Club’s touring party to South Otago are marooned near Clinton owing to heavy falls of snow in that area.

Yesterday a telegram was received by Mr G. L. Banfield, district secretary, stating that every endeavour was being made to make it possible for the young tourists to board the express leaving for Christchurch on Saturday. Those marooned were Messrs McCollum and Mudford of Hikutaia, Chick and Schuler of NethertonKerepehi club, Yelavich of Ngatea, Edlin of Waitakaruru, Clark of Turn and Dufty of Patetonga. The rest of the party will be returning to Paeroa by Edwards Motors’ buses between six and seven o’clock on Saturday morning.
