WANT REOPENED

WHITIANGA PETITION ROAD TO THE BEACH A CHILDREN’S PLAYGROUND A petition signed by 80 residents of Whitianga praying that a closed road between the Whitianga school and Mrs Eyre’s property to the beach be reopened was placed before the May meeting of the Coromandel County Council. The petition was presented by Cr. H. T. Robinson and stated that “considerable resentment was felt at not being able to use this road' to get to the beach which should be regarded as part of the children’s playground.” Gr. Robinson said that the petition asked that the road be opened until such time as an alternative route was provided. After discussion it-was resolved that the foreman be instructed to investigate the position and that if he approved a bulldozer be engaged for one and a half days to do the necessary work.
