KITCHEN EVENING

MISS D. BOOTH HONOURED

CAPACITY HALL AT KEREPEHI There was a very large attendance in the~ Kerepehi hall recently at a kitchen evening sponsored by the Kerepehi branch of the Women’s Division of Federated Farmers, in honour of Miss D. Booth and Mr C. Wild on the eve of their marriage.

Music was supplied by the Rhythm Trio.

Miss A. Skinner and partner won the Monte Carlo waltz.

Requesting Dorothy and Cyril to come forward and open the numerous gifts, Mr Bailey stated that Dorothy was very well known and highly respected in the district and was a good citizen as she had always taken an interest in the various organisations, ihiaving at one timfe been a teacher at the Kerepehi Sunday school, a keen tennis and badminton player and also secretary of the senior branch of the N.Z. National Party and the Thames-Hauraki Badminton Association. Mr Bailey stated that although Cyril was not so well-known as Dorothy, those who did know him always found him a good sport. In conclusion he expressed good wishes to both on behalf of all present for a very happy married life and musical honours were then accorded.

In replying Cyril thanked Mr Bailey for his kind remarks and good wishes and expressed appreciation on behalf of Dorothy and himself to the women’s division which had sponsored the very happy evening.
