WON BY KAIHERE OPENING OF THE SEASON WALTON CUP TO KEREPEHI The Hauraki Plains Ladies’ Hockey Association opened its season with a tournament on the playing fields of the Thames High School on Saturday, Senior teams competed for the Candy cup and junior teams for the Walton cup. ■Results aye as follow: — Seniors First rounds: Paeroa beat Thames; Kaihere beat Ngatea; Kerepehi beat Waitakaruru. {Second round: Kaihere beat Paeroa; Kerepehi beat Ngatea; Thames beat Waitakaruru. Third round: Kaihere beat Kerepehi; Thames beat Ngatea; Paeroa beat Waitakaruru. Fourth round: Kerepehi beat Thames; Kaihere beat Waitakaruru; Paeroa beat Ngatea. Fifth round: Kaihere drew with Thames; Kerepehi beat Paeroa; Ngatea drew with Waitakaruru. Summary: Kaihere won the Candy cup with four wins and a draw. Kerepehi was runner-up with four wins. Paeroa hadi three wins, Thames two wins and a draw. Ngatea and Waitakaruru had a draw each. Juniors Section one, first round: Paeroa (a) 'beat Thames; Kaihere drew with Ngatea. Second round: Paeroa (a) beat Ngatea; Kaihere beat Thames. Third round: Thames drew with Ngatea; Paeroa drew with Kaihere. Summary: Paeroa (a), two wins and a draw; Kaihere, one win and 1 two draws; Ngatea, two draws; Thames one draw. Winners of section one, Paeroa (a). Section two, first round: Kerepehi beat Waitakaruru; Kerepehi drew with Paeroa (b); Paeroa (b) beat Waitakaruru. Summary: Kerepehi, one win and one draw. Paeroa (b), one win and one draw. In the play-off Kerepehi beat Paeroa (b). Kerepehi won the Walton cup by defeating Paeroa (a) in the final game. FIXTURES FOR SATURDAY * a PAEROA TEAMS SELECTED Teams from the Paeroa Ladies Hockey Club have been selected to play matches during the next weekend as follows:— To play Te Aroha at 1 p.m.—F. Anderson, D. Handley, J. Haslett, J. Anderson, R. Williams, J. Fathers, F. Thorp, B. Handley, M. Noble, B. Midwood and S.- Blackburn. To play Kerepehi on Sunday at 1.30 p.m.—F. Ballam, R. Richmond, L. Richmond, C. Evans, J. Ryde, B. Wild, J. Turnbull, A. Ballam, J. Heappey, S. Jones and D. Chamberlain.
