AT EASTER MEETING THE MEIKLE FAMILY NAMED AFTER BIRTHPLACE By winning the first race of the day at the Easter Monday meeting of the Auckland Racing Club, Mr A. W. Meikle’s horse, Coromandel, placed the n<me of Coromandel on the winging Bat at one of Auckland’s leading yaefag events. Coromandel is owned by Mr A. W. Meikle, a very old Coromandel-Mer-cury Bay family, Mr Meikle senior having been connected with business, mainly grocery and drapery at Mercury Bay for many years in the days Of task and sawmilling activities at the Bay. Now his son has put the game of Coromandel before the public by racing Coromandel in honour of the old town where his father was gg old time race horse competitor at Ifao Coromandel races dating back to the days when the Coromandel races were hold in the late Mr John Lynch’s ygddoek .gear the local pound.
