RUNNERS-UP IN MACKY CUP

Playing in Auckland in ’the Macky Cup competition for tennis veterans, H. R. Thorp and H. Lee of Paeroa scored considerable successes, "playing right through to the final to be beaten by W. S. Burns and R. Marr, the winners of the cup. cup.

In the first round the Paeroa veterans (-30) defeated H. J. Naysmith and A. Ohlson (3-6, 7-2. In the second round they were succes-' ful in defeating Dunning and N. Pengelly, 7-2. In the quarter finals Thorp and Lee defeated and McAneny 7*3 and in the semifinals the same pair succeeded in beating Macky and Stevens 7-4.

The final match of the competition was between Marr aitf Burns and Thorp and Lee, the former winning by 7-2.
