PUKEKAURI ROAD

MUCH WORK DONE COMPLAINT TO COUNCIL The bad state of the Pukekauri road was the subject of a complaint to the February meeting of the Ohinemuri County Council, Mr. C. P. Ritchie, taxi and bus proprietor, of Waihi, making complaint in a letter addressed to the council. Mr. Ritchie stated that he disliked complaining, but unless something was done to improve the state of the road he would have to discontinue his school transport service in the coming months as he would not be able to continue in the winter months if the same conditions existed as during last winter. Considerable improvements had been made to the road and work had actually been commenced before Mr. Ritchie’s letter had been received by the council, said Mr. Shaw.
