TO BE CHECKED

HEAVY MOTOR VEHICLES CONTROL ON YhE PLAINS REPORT BY THE INSPECTOR “ It is hoped that my loadmeters will be on hand during the forthcoming month when an extensive check will be carried out into the overloading of heavy motor vehicles on the Plains,” reported the traffic inspector, Mr W. Hackett, to the December meeting of the Hauraki Plains County Council. “ Eight applicants for drivers licenses were tested. Of these one failed to pass the test because of complete lack of knowledge of the regulations,” continued the report. “ One traffic offence notice was issued during the period. Ten warnings were issued for minor breaches of the regulations., A number of these warnings were to motorists who saw fit to ignore the spaed restriction sign when they entered the township of Ngatea. Their speed, though not dangerous, was in excess of 30 m.p.h.”
