MONEY WELL SPENT

TRIP TO CONFERENCE COROMANDEL COUNCIL’S HOPE “ Untie their hands and let them get on with the job,” said Cr. T. V. Whittle, at the July meeting of the Coromandel County Council after he had listened to a report of the address made by Sir Donald Cameron at the annual conference of county councils held recently in Dunedin. The chairman, Mr E. Deeble, and the county clerk, Mr J. H. Lucas, who were delegates from the county to the conference, reported that whilst in Wellington they had taken the opportunity of interviewing officers of Government departments with a view of obtaining more grants and larger subsidies. They were pleased to report that their applications had received sympathetic consideration and it was hoped that results would prove that the trip taken to the conference and to the various departments was money well spent.
