HARBOUR BOARD

COROMANDEL COUNCIL APPLICATION MADE That Coromandel County Council be constituted a harbour board was the request made by its chairman*, Mr E. Deeble, to officers of the Marine Department, Wellington, when he was recently in that city. Mr Deeble reported to the July meeting of the council that he pointed out to the officers of the department that if the council were constituted a harbour board it would be better able to control the Coromandel harbour. Members of the council enquired as to what the taking of such a step would entail and as to the powers and the obligations it would bring to the council.

It was finally decided that the council make formal application to the Marine Department to be constituted a harbour board.
