REFERENDUM VOTE

HAURAKI ELECTORATE

OVER SIX TO ONE SUPPORT ONLY 1214 VOTE NO In the voting on the military service referendum in the Hauraki electorate 6630 votes were recorded in favour of compulsory military training whilst 1148 votes were registered against the proposal. There were 27 informal votes. In addition to the above figures, which relate only to the European vote, the Maori vote resulted as follows: 149 for compulssry military training, 66 votes being registered against the proposal with three informal votes.

Taking the grand total of votes for and against in the Hauraki electorate the position is that 6779 votes were recorded in favour of the proposal and 1214 were recorded against with 30 informal votes. Details of the voting in the various polling booths throughout the electorate are as follows:—
