VISIT TO WHENUAKITE
WIN FOR COROMANDEL
Members Of the Coromandel Table Tennis Club recently paid a return visit to Whenuakite when a series of matches was played against the local team.
The games were very evenly contested and it was most evident that al! the players gained the maximum amount of enjoyment from the evening’s play. In the men s singles the advantage was with Whenuakite team but in the ladies’ singles, ladies’ doubles, men’s doubles and in the combined doubles the advantage was with the visiting team. At the conclusion of the club matche.vaiious other games were played following which supper was served. Mr R. T. G. Pepper, president of the Coromandel club, in thanking the members of the Whenuakite chib for ll.e hospitality extended to members of b.is club, expressed the hope that further vi.-its would be possible. By special request four of the Browse sHttr>, who were members of tlie visitinpr team, gtivc two harmon ised vocal items, accompanied on the guitar by Mr Browne. These numi,er> were greatly'appreciated by the iaige gathering.
The following is a summary of the icsults of the matches played:— Ladies’ singles, Coromandel 7, Whenuakite 2; men’s singles, Whenuakite 9, Coromandel 1; ladies’ doubles, Coromandel 4, Whenuakite 0; men’s doubles, Coromandel 4, Whenuakite 1; combined doubles, .Coromandel 6, Whenuakite 4; totals, Coromandel 22, Whenuakite 16.
