POPULAR POSTMISTRESS
MISS PEARL FISHER HONOURED
The local postmistress is always at the top of a popularity poll and this is no exception in the case of Miss Pearl Fisher who recently married Mr Bert Maunder. The residents of Netherton showed their appreciation of her services with a gift evening spent in dancing, games and cards. Mr A. Laurent was the capable M.C. and Miss Dorothy Fisher delighted listeners with a yodelling number. Mrs G. E. Sarjant presented the bride-to-be with a unique bouquet and Mr Laurent asked the young couple to open the gifts they had received. Mr Maunder spoke for his fiancee when he thanked those present for their kindness for the lovely gifts. Mesdames J. Pennell, Allan Paul and Mr Bruce Townshend, who supplied the music, were also thanked. The euchre prizes were won by Mrs Schuler and Mr H. Prout, Miss R. Mclntosh winning the competition.
