WOMEN’S DIVISION

MANGATARATA BRANCH

PRESENTATION TO MISS FLYNN

The monthly meeting of the Mangatarata branch of the Women’s Division of the Federated Farmers was held recently in the Mangatarata hall when Mrs L. Main presided over a fair attendance of members.

The hostesses for the day were Mrs Burns and Miss Gray. After lunch the president presented Miss Flynn, on the occasion of her approaching marriage, with a gift from members of the division.

A competition for a prize given by Mrs McQuoid was won by Miss Gray, whilst a sewing competition was won by Miss J. Taylor, Mrs McQuoid being second.

Recitations were given by Mrs Skiliner, songs W’ere sung by Mrs Taylor and duets by Mrs and Miss Flynn. The rest of the afternoon was spent in competitions and community singing. The following were the winners of the competitions: Best bloom, Mrs Skinner 1, Mrs Burns 2, Miss Gray 3; sprays, Miss J. Taylor 1, Mrs Burns 2, Mrs McClune 3.
