TRAINING SHED SUGGESTION
(To the Editoi*)
Sir, —In a recent issue of your paper there appeared al report of a discussion by the Paeroa Rugby Union regarding the necessity for a training shed for Paeroa footballers. > I would think that the Hauraki A. and P. Association could benefit from a hall erected on the Paeroa domain where they could have a show of flowers and homecraft in conjunction with their annual show. If the association joined with the Paeroa Rugby Union, the one hall could be built to suit both purposes.
With regard to the site, there is an area in the corner of the domain, adjacent to the fire brigade station, which could be used and the hall would not be in the way of any sports gathering and would be a real asset to the whole community. I think a building somewhat similar to the Paeroa drill hall would fill the bill. I know that such a building will require quite a lot of money, but if the people of Tapu have been able to find funds to erect a very large hall in their centre, surely the people of Paeroa could do likewise. At Tapu all the work was done by voluntary labour, and I think the same could be done in Paeroa. It should not be hard to collect the money required as similar centres have raised considerable figures recently without any effort.
A queen carnival, properly organised, should surely raise the required funds. I suggest that a committee be appointed to run such a carnival to raise the necessary funds, and I can assure you the farming community will do their part to provide such a hall for the benefit of the Hauraki A. and P. Association. —I am etc., Awaiti. “WILLING.”
