NATIONAL SAVINGS

12,000 NEW ACCOUNTS

TURUA’S QUOTA EXCEEDED

Further evidence of the increasing popularity of National Savings is the fact that 12,000 new accounts have been opened since April 1, 1949. Of this number 1800 are group savings accounts.

At May 20 of this year 33 towns in New Zealand had exceeded their full annual quotas. In the Thames district Te Teko and Turua had already exceeded their quotas. In the Paeroa area the total deposits for the current year amounted to £4130 16s 3d. A local business firm had opened a new group account. This information has been supplied to the Gazette by the postmaster at Paeroa, Mr C. W. Williams.
