ACTIVITIES IN ELECTORATE TOUR BY MR SUTHERLAND, M.P. Since their Coromandel trip, Mr A. S. Sutherland, M.P. for Hauraki, and Mr R. L. Milne, electorate organiser, have been busy attending annual branch meetings in all parts of the electorate. Good meetings have resulted in all centres visited and branch committees are keen and enthusiastic. Speaking to a Gazette representative, Mr Milne stated that the organisation throughout the electorate was in very good shape and if Mr Sutherland w’as called to other electorates during the election campaign, his own personal popularity and ability coupled with the good work being done by the branches would ensure him a larger majority than ever. Branches visited during the past fortnight have been Orini. The chairman was Mr Cranch, and secretary, Mr Morgan. Tenfoot road, with Mr Foley as chairman and Mr Toomer, secretary. On March 30 Mr Sutherland again visited Coromandel for a conference with the Lands Department and county council and returned for the junior centre meeting at Kerepehi in the evening. The chairman on this occasion was Mr Gray Townshend, and Miss Fay Strong was secretary. Other centres visited were: Te Kauwhata-Waerenga,’ chairman Mr Walt Jefferies, secretary Mr D. Grant; Te Hoe, chairman Mr D. Carter, secretary, Mrs W. Webber; Mangatawhiri juniors, chairman Mr T. Jeffs, secretary Miss Barbara Feist; Maramarua, chairman Mr F. Symes, secretary Mr 'G. Bond; Manga tangi-Kaiaua-Mir-anda, chairman Mr R. E. Cochrane, secretary Mr A. Chipman; Hunua, chairman Mr S. Wilson, secretary Mr J. Pichard; Clevedon, chairman Mr S. Eyre, secretary Mr J. McPherson; Ohinewai, chairman Mr Aldridge, secretary Mr Johnstone. Several branches have yet to hold their annual meetings but these are in hand and will be all held prior to the electorate annual meeting.
