OUTLET DEEPENED

WORK AT KOPUARAHI TREES LEFT IN DRAIN The Kopuarahi factory outlet from the floodgate to the road, has been deepened, reported the foreman, Mr W. Johnson, to the February meeting of the Hauraki United Drainage Board. The foreman stated that if the board desired to have the drain shovelled up from the floodgate to within one chain of the bluegum trees it would be necessary for the pine tree branches to be trimmed back so that the spoil could be thrown out. The two flaps at the floodgate would have to be replaced with new ones as the gate was leaking badly and the water backing up the drain for some distance, the report stated. Continuing, the report stated that in the same drain the trees which Mr Green had been asked to remove and which he had promised to attend to had not been touched. The board decided to take up the matter with Mr Green and ask him to attend to the work immediately.
