PICNIC AT WAIOMU

NGATEA WOMEN’S DIVISION VERY ENJOYABLE OUTING The Ngatea branch of the Women’s Division Federated Farmers held its annual picnic at Waiomu recently. Invitations were sent to Ngatea Institute, Ngatea branch of Federated Farmers, and Ngatea Young Farmers’ Club, and there was a good attendance from all organisations. All enjoyed a very pleasant day. After a sumptuous lunch undbr the big trees, the president welcomed the visitors and thanked everyone for coming. She spoke of the good work of the division, and of how proud they were of their rest homes and also the housekeeping scheme. Mr R. Tye, on behalf of the Federated Farmers, thanked Mrs Thomas for the invitation to the picnic and made a handsome donation towards the Scotlands Rest Home, the latest rest home to be acquired by the division. The president then cut the birthday cake, which she herself had made, and which had been iced by Mrs Sydenham. Various games were played which called forth much merriment, the winners being as follows:— Stepping the chain: Men, Mr McWatters. Ladies, Mrs Gardner. Skipping: Men, .Mr R. Tye. Ladies, Mrs Dunlop. Quoits: Men, Mr Harris. Ladies, Miss Irwin. A tug-of-war between the division ladies and the institute ladies resulted in a win for the division, after which an exciting game of rounders was played. A few brave ones went for a swim. .

After a delicious afternoon tea had been served, a very happy day was brought to a close.
