COMING-OF-AGE PARTY

MR G. PYE HONOURED FUNCTION AT WHENUAKITE Friends and well-wishers from Hikuai to Whitianga assembled in the Whenuakite Hall recently to celebrate the coming-of-age of Mi’ Gordon Pye. Friends had decorated the hall most •tastefully with ferns, balloons and streamers. With Mr K. Hamilton as master of ceremonies a most enjoyable evening was spent dancing to music by Macky’s orchestra. After a delightful home-made supper, Mr J. Jenkins presented the guest with a gold tie-pin in the shape of a key. Mr Jenkins concluded his speech by calling upon Mr Pye to cut the beautifully decorated cake which had been prepared by Mr Pye’s aunt, Mrs O'. P. Liddell, of Komata. Mr Pye replied thanking his many friends who had helped to make the evening such a great success. Mr Pye’s mother, Mrs J. Jenkins, was presented with a bouquet by Miss Viola Hamilton.

Dancing continued until the early hours.
