FAREWELL EVENING

MISS MULES OF TURUA LEAVING FOR ENGLAND Many friends and relatives gathered in the Turua buildings recently to bid farewell to Miss Dorothy Mules, who is soon to leave for England on the Akaroa. Mr A. Sutton, when presenting Miss Mules with a travelling bag on behalf of the people of Turua and the surrounding district, said he hoped she would find it useful on the voyage and that it would bring back to her many happy memories of her stay in Turua. Miss Mules has spent most of her life in Turua and during a queen carnival to raise funds for the school swimming baths she had been crowned the “ business queen.” She is also a very keen tennis player. When fir Sutton said, that she would be most known and best remembered for the splendid way in which she had carried on her brother’s work on the baker’s run, everyone present raised a hearty cheer. Miss Mules replied suitably and was accorded musical honours. Music for dancing was supplied by Miss Ngaire Miller and Mr A. Whitehead, and an extra was played by Mrs J. Mules of Hamilton. The Monte Carlo was won by Miss M. McMillan and partner. Among those present were: Mesdames J. Miller, A. Whitehead, Bun Miller, J. Pye, J. Marceau, F. Grey,' S. Workman, C. Roberts, F. E. Schmidt, T. O’Carroll, Walters, H. Mules, W. Ward, J, Mules, J. Beagley and H. Taylor. Misses M. McMillan, N. Miller, J. Madgwick, F. Miller, J. Scott, M. O’Carroll, J. Sear, V. and B. Miller, Miles (Marton) and Nants (Palmerston North).
