BETTER SERVICE
POSTAL FACILITIES RURAL MAIL DELIVERY KOMATA-NETHERTON AREA In order to provide better postal facilities for the whole of the Awaiti, Netherton and Komata areas, extensions to the present rural delivery services, catering for about 70 to 80 extra people, will commence on March 1, advises the Paeroa postmaster. The Awaiti South settlers will receive a daily service in lieu of thrice weekly while Wanis road settlers, previously without any deliveiy, will also participate. The old Netherton road settlers and those on the main highway adjacent to the Netherton township will be incorporated in the new route now to be traversed and when these residents can be served thereby the Netherton post office, which for some time now has been losing contact with the district, as residents join up with the rural service, will be closed permanently.
In addition to this improved coverage of the Netherton district, a further extension will be made from Hubbards road to serve the Komata district not previously catered for and the daily delivery will extend as far as Messrs Strange and Neale’s properties on the Paeroa-Thames main highway.
Some considerable time has elapsed since the department first investigated the possibility of this improvement and it is now anxious to commence the full service for the benefit of the residents by March 1. Settlers concerned in the extensions are advised to consult the Paeroa postmaster for further details.
