HIGH STANDARD

TURUA FLORAL ENTRIES ANGLICAN SHOW HELD DANCE IN THE EVENING Owing to recent bad weather the number of floral entries at the Turua Anglican flower show was less than usual, but those on display were of a very high standard. Cooking entries were well represented and the sweet stall wag heavily laden.

Mr N. Hedges of Waitakaruru, when opening the show, thanked the ladies’ guild for the privilege given to him and spoke of the good work done by the members. The judges were as follow: Cut flowers, Mr Harris, Thames; decorative, Mrs Rowe of Thames; children, Mrs Keyes; cooking, Mr Bun Miller; vegetables and eggs, Mr Flint; needlework, Mrs Sydenham and Mrs Flint; sweets, Mrs Cox. Points prizes were awarded as follows: Flowers, Mrs Hicks; cooking, Mrs Mules and Mrs Treadaway equal; sweets, Mrs Robertson. The stewards were: Cooking, Mesdames Workman and McCollum; sweets, Mesdames Sutton and J. and F. Gray; needlework, Mesdames Schmidt and H. Mules; vegetables, Mesdames A. Green and R. Hamilton; flowers, Mesdames W. G. Scott and Bell; secretary, Mrs C. Robertson; tea rooms, Mesdames H. Hicks, Whitehead, B. Nicholson and M. Johnson; door, Mrs Bell.
