NETHERTON INSTITUTE

ANNUAL MEETING HELD OFFICERS FOR YEAR ELECTED There was a good attendance of members at the annual meeting of the Netherton Women’s Institute. The report and balance sheet were read, showing a very successful year. One noticeable feature of the report was the enrollment of over 30 new members.

The election of officers resulted: President, Mrs C. Townshend (reelected); secretary and treasurer, Mrs Geo. Sarjant (re-elected); vice-pre-sidents, Mesdames Durman and R. Morrison.

Two new members, Mrs H. Prout and Mrs Mold, were welcomed by the president, and birthday sprays were presented to Mesdames S. Reid, B. Buchanan and C. Townshend. Arrangements, it was reported, were well # in hand for the children’s party in April and the fair which is being held by the institute and the young farmers’ club.

Mrs Durman was appointed the delegate to the Thames council meeting in April. An invitation to the Tirohia Womens’ Division of Federated Farmers’ birthday party was received and accepted by a number of members.

Competition winners were as follows: Fruit loaf, Mrs J. Bennett 1, Mrs Geo. Sarjant 2, Mrs J. Ryall 3; coat hangers, Mrs J. Ryall 1, Mrs Geo. Sarjant 2, Mrs T. W. Jamieson 3; best bloom, Mrs H. Wilkins 1, Mrs T. W. Jamieson 2, Mrs Ricketts 3. Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, Mrs F. Bennett, Mrs B. Buchanan and Mrs G. Berry.
