COROGLEN—WHENUAKITE
ELECTION OF OFFICERS FINANCES ARE SOUND There was a good attendance of members, especially from Coroglen at the annual meeting of the CoroglenWhenuakite branch of Federated Farmers.
The balance sheet disclosed a very sound financial position, although no funds have been applied for from the provincial treasurer for several years. This the retiring secretary-treasurer pointed out, was due to the generous action of the local P.P.C.S. agent, Mr G. C. Donovan, in handing in the commissions received An appreciation of the work of the delegates to the sub-provincial meetings, Messrs K. A. Hamilton and G. C. Donovan, was placed on record. In replying on behalf of the delegates Mr K. A. Hamilton thanked the members for their gesture of confidence and strongly urged members to give full support to the Farmers’ Union Co-operative Society. Election of Officers Mr H. Camp was unanimously reelected president. Messrs H. Hinds and A. R. Donovan were elected vicepresidents. Mr E. L. Prestage was elected secretary, when Mrs Z. Hamilton declined re-nomination. Mr K. A. Hamilton was re-elected delegate and Mr James Hamilton was also elected delegate when Mr G. C. Donovan declined re-nomination. Upon the resignation of Mr G. C. Donovan as P.P.C.S. agent and secretary, cull cow committee, which position he has held since its inception some four years ago, Mr K A. Hamilton was elected to succeed him.
In response to several questions, Mr G. C. Donovan explained the duties of the cull cow committee. A vote of thanks to the retiring secretary of the cull cow committee was passed. In view of the healthy state of the branch funds, a resolution to make a presentation to Mrs Hamilton, who for the past two years has been branch secretary, was carried. A vote of thanks to her was also passed. Subsidy in Lime Carriage
A letter dealing with the subsidy on the carriage of lime created wide interest and some discussion at the ordinary meeting of the branch. Mr C. C. Donovan, who is relinquishing the Pig Marketing Association agency, explained the new set-up and said that pigs could now be sent to the association at Auckland cheaper than to any other place of disposal. The matter of considerable areas of idle Crown lahds was also discussed. The question of inadequate storage facilities at Te Kauanga wharf was again raised, and other matters of local importance attended to.
