LADIES’ ASSOCIATION

ELECTION OF OFFICERS

DRAW FOR FIRST ROUND

The annual meeting of the Hauraki Plains Ladies’ Hockey Association was held in the Ngatea hall on April 5 when teams from Waitakaruru, Thames, Ngatea and Kaihere were all represented. There were no delegates present from Kerepehi or Kopuarahi, but it is to be hoped that they will be able to field teams.

The financial position of the association, it was reported, was very sound. The election of officers resulted as follows:—

Patron, Mr Candy (Kerepehi); president, Mrs F. Bird (Kaihere); secre-tary-treasurer, Mrs E. Costello (Patetonga); vice-presidents, Mesdames T. O*Carroll, T. Foote, Messrs Olsen, Trembath, J. Constantine, Rawson, T. Morrison and G. Adams; executive committee, Mesdames F. Bird, L. Hunter, E. Hayward, E. Costello, Miss B. Beck and Mr Rawson. Mrs F. Bird was made sole selector for the representative teams. It is hoped that the association will be able to send one, or if possible, two, teams to Auckland for Country Week.

Competitions will commence on May 1, and a seven-a-side competition for the Candy Cup will be held at Waitakaruru on Saturday, May 29. The draw for the first round is as follows:—

May 1: Ngatea v. Kaihere at Ngatea; Thames v. Waitakaruru at Thames. May 8: Waitakaruru v. Ngatea at Waitakaruru; Kaihere v. Thames at Kaihere. May 15: Kaihere v. Waitakaruru at Kaihere; Ngatea v. Thames at Thames.
