AXEMEN’S CARNIVAL
CHOPPING CONTESTS POPULAR AT COROMANDEL The Scotsmen’s grandstand at Coromandel was fijlly booked at the axemen’s carnival held on Easter Saturday. The main event of the day was the big chon, where, due to his previous experience, E. Vance ran out the winner.
Results were as follows: 10-inch chop (12 starters), J. Barry 1, E. Vance 2, J. Kuha 3; big chop, 12-inch (12 starters), E. Vance 1, J. Barry 2, H. New 3; underhand, 12-inch chop (11 starters), P. Christie 1, E. Christie 2, J. McKenzie 3; ladies’ 6inch chop. Mrs F. Boswell 1, Mrs M. Quist 2, Miss F. Thompson 3.
