ENJOYABLE EVENING

CONCERT IN COROMANDEL FUNDS FOR METHODIST CHURCH An excellent concert was given by the Thames Young Ladies Choir and artists from Coromandel in the Civic Theatre, Coromandel recently. The theatre was not quite full, but those whot attended thoroughly enjoyed the concert. The capable conductorship of Mr R. V. Rowe, of Thames, and the excellent accompanying by Mr H. Walker were largely responsible for the success of the evening. The proceeds raised by the function were to be put towards the funds of the Methodist Church. The Rev. 0. L. Christian thanked the visiting choir and artists, and he called on a vote of appreciation by acclamation. The programme presented was as follows: —

Overture by the orchestra, “ The Carnival ” and “ Come to the Fair ” by the choir; “ Herald Dance ” by Janice Woofe; “ The Piper From Over the Way ” and “ She Shall Have Music” by Jean Dalgety; “Arise Oh Sun,” a trumpet solo by H. Walker; “Blue Orchids,” a saxophone solo by H. Walker; magic by E. Whitehead; tap dancing by Collen Dowd; “ Patricia Dances ” and “ Naiads,” piano solos by Mrs Walker; elocution by Miss V. McCombe; violin solo by H. Dixon, “ The Holy City ” and “My Curly Headed Baby”; choral sextet, “ In a Monastery Garden ” and “ The Snow.” Entreact by the orchestra, “ Dawn ” and “ Nightfall ” by the choir; toe dance by Gay Sveistrup; a solo by Madeline Johnston; “Bless This House,” by the choral sexet; solo by Zita Strange; recitation by Janice Woofe; violin solo by H. Dixon; magic by E. Whitehead; “Ye Banks and Braes ” and “ The Lord’s Prayer,” by the choir.
