SUCCESSFUL DANCE

FUNDS FOR FIRE BRIGADE FUNCTION AT COROMANDEL A successful effort in aid of the Coromandel Volunteer Fire Brigade took place in St. George’s Hall, Coromandel, recently when a dance was organised and run by a liason committee consisting of fire brigade members and residents. The sale of tickets was well supported by the public and quite a good gathering attended the dance. A good floor and popular music'as well as the enthusiasm of the organisers ensured the success of the evening. A public address system assisted the M.C. and helped the music along. During the evening l choruses were sung and whistling solos presented.

Supper was served by the committee. The music for the dancing was supplied by Mrs E. M. Lucas, assisted by Messrs Hart, Perfect and Gamble in turn on the drums. An extra fox trot was played by Miss B. Davis and a polonaise by Mr R. Martin. Mr Eric Gamble carried out the duties of M.C. Monte Carlo waltzes were won by Mrs T. Mitchell and Mr Johnson and Miss J. Munro and partner.

Mr T. M. Lillis on behalf of the fire brigade thanked everyone for their attendance and intimated that £9 had been raised as a result of the effort. Thanks were extended to all those who had helped by giving prizes and donations of time and money.
