ANNUAL ROSE SHOW

TURUA ANGLICAN GUILD STALLS KEPT VERY BUSY DETAILS OF DAY’S RESULTS Beautiful roses and other flowers presented a lovely scene of colour and perfume when the Turua Anglican Ladies’ • Guild held its annual rose show in the Turua Hall recently. The children’s section showed a marked improvement on last year’s entries both in numbers and design. When the Rev. Castle officially declared the show open he welcomed all visitors and thanked all the guild members for the splendid way in which they had worked and made the show such a success. Cake, vegetable and sweets stalls all did a brisk business. The articles on the sewing stall were many and varied. Stall holders were as follows: Vegetables, Mesdames Green and Chinnery; cakes, Mesdames Workman and McCollum; sweets, Mesdames B. Madgwick and F. Gray; sewing,. Mesdames Castles, Walters; Schmidt and Mitchell; flower stewards, Mesdames Bell, Maunder, Scott and Peterson. Afternoon tea was attended to by Mesdames Hicks

and Whitehead, while Misses B. Nicholson and M. Chinnery waited on the tables. The secretary, Mrs Robertson was kept very busy all day. Messrs Maunder and McCollum were in charge of the nail driving and Harold Hicks did a good job in his “ guess the beans ” and “ measuring.” Mr B.
