United Armistice Service

A large and representative number of people attended a united service in the Methodist Church at Coromandel on Sunday, November 9, to commemorate Armistice Day. The Rev. O. L. Christian conducted the service and Mr A. V. Hart was the preacher. The Coromandel Silver Band led the singing and during the service a solo “ Oh for the Wings of a Dove,” was very beautifully rendered by Mrs Ball. Bandsman N. Davies sounded the “ Last Post.”

Coromandel Cemeteries The. matter of the state of the Coromandel cemetery was raised at the November meeting of the Coromandel Chamber of Commerce. Mr A. S. Tonkin made a brief report on the subject. It appeared that the Cemeteries Act covered the situation in that a county council could vote a sum of money for the upkeep of the cemetery, he stated. After a brief discussion it was resolved that the chamber defer any action until the new council was elected and then to approach it with a view to some action being taken.
