GAMES FOR SATURDAY

The weekly meeting of the Paeroa Rugby Union’s management committee was held in the Paeroa grandstand on Monday night. Those present were Messrs W. F. F. Faber (chairman), A. Bradburn (secretary), W. A. Geary, B. A. Kelly, R. Harris, E. Morgan, H. E. Verran, R. Todd, K. FitzHenrjr, C. Ricketts,, E. Hampton. A letter was received from the East Coast- Boys’ Rugby Club, asking if a junior Rugby match could be arranged for the club. It was decided to arrange a game with the Netheiton c.iio and suggest that they meet on September 8.

The Waihi Rugby Union wrote, to advise that it submitted August 23 for the date of the Birch Cup. That date has been'set down for the match. The union stated that it had no available Saturday for the McDuff Cup until October. It suggested that the game be played on August 17 at Waihi. The management committee decided to request two more dates from Waihi for a choice.

Match With Katikati The Waihi union’s letter also stated that Katikati was the champion junior team of the union and that the game for the Clarke Cup would be played at Katikati. The committee decided to ask for two suggested dates.

The gate takings for last Saturday were £9 10 s.

A letter was received from the Pae-roa-Hauraki R.S.A. thanking the union for allocating the major portion of the gate and stand proceeds from a recent match.

The chairman, Mr Faber, told the meeting that the Manukau Rugby Football Club had rung him asking for a junior match with Paeroa. He suggested that a game be given the Manukau club on September 20. The ■meeting agreed to the date suggested by Mr Faber. There had been a request from the Fishers and relatives team from Kerepeehi for a game with a Paeroa team. The meeting decided to grant them a game with the West club’s senior team next week-end.

Permission was granted the Drury juniors to meet the United juniors on a future date. Matches on Saturday

Games arranged for Saturday were as follows: Paeroa senior.representatives to play Waihi at Waihi at 2.30 p.m., for the Birch Cup. United juniors to play Netherton in the first game of the junior knock-out competition, No. 1 ground, Paeroa domain at 2.30 p.m.; West to play the Grammar Old Boys’ third grade, No. 1 ground at 1.30' p.m. A match between the -Paeroa fourth grade team and the Te Aroha fourth grade is to be played on the No. 2 ground at 1.15 p.m. The finals of both the junior and senior knock-out competitions are to be played on August 30. The junior game is to be played on No. 1 ground of the Paeroa domain at 1 p.m. and the senior game on No. 1 ground at 3 p.m. Team To Play Waihi The team selected to represent Paeroa in the Birch Cup challenge match to be played at Waihi on Saturday is as follows. Any player not available is asked to advise the selector, Mr C. C. Webb: —
