BETTER DRAINAGE

CULVERT TO BE INSTALLED WORK ON ORCHARD ROAD Permission to install a culveit of two feet diameter concrete pip es across Orchard road, Ngatea, near, but a little to the West, of the Hauraki Plains Motors corner, was sought by the secretary of the Hauraki West Drainage Board, Mr F. E. Hammond, in a letter to the August meeting of the Hauraki Plains County Council.

“ This culvert is required to give a second outlet to the water in the drain on the southern side of Orchard road. It is understood that a culvert or bridge drain existed there many years ago, but was closed up in connection with road works. The wet conditions

this winter have rendered rhe provision of such alternative outlet way necessary, added the letter. It was decided to grant the necessary permission.
