NO WATER

COMPLAINT TO COUNCIL NETHERTON FARMER PRESSURE NOT HIGH ENOUGH Complaining’ that on October 15 there had been no water in his dairyshed for the cooler or other purposes, with the result that the milk was graded second with a consequent loss of money. Mr W. Hayes, of Netherton, wrote to the November meeting of the Hauraki Plains County Council .asking that the pressure in the water supply be improved in that district. “ I eventually traced the trouble to the fact that a ball cock had been damaged by the cattle and the trought was overflowing which seems to confirm my statement that we have insufficient pressure on the Awaiti West road. Surely if there was-enough pressure the fact of one high pressure tup being on should not cut off the water from the rest of the circuit,” wrote Mr Hayes.

“ I view with considerable alarm the continued talk of extending the number of users. I maintain that until you can give the present users enough water no extension of any sort .should be made. This would cost me nearly £3O. I do not see why I should be put to this expense. ‘ “ I would point out that the Department of Agriculture are conducting important experiments at the Netherton factory this year and it is essential that the milk should be in good condition,”- the letter concluded. The clerk, Mr E.' A. Mahoney, stated that he had replied to Mr Hayes saying that he had instructed the water supply supervisor to make • a thorough inspection and advise Mr Hayes as to the best means of effecting improvements. He had also advised Mr Hayes that as 1 far as he knew the council had no intention of linking more consumers to the East water supply at present although there was occasionally talk of it.
