WOMEN’S DIVISION

MEETING AT COROMANDEL

REPORT OF CONFERENCE The monthly meeting of the Coromandel W.DjFjU. was held in St. George’s supper-room on (Saturday, July 2'7, when Mrs Mannion presided over a good attendance of members. The secretary read an interesting report on the birthday party held on July '3. Foui 1 new members were proposed and duly welcomed to the division. It was reported that the dance in honour of the Coromandel band was a success and a very enjoyable evening had been spent by all. Mrs Mannion gave a very interesting report on her visit to Wellington to attend the conference. The many little humorous incidents and tit-bits that she told were very much appreciated by the members and a hearty vote of thanks was accorded her for the report and also for so ably representing us at the conference. As time was short the remits were held over till next meeting, when Mrs Mannion would conclude her narrative.

1 A letter of appreciation was received from Mr and Mrs W. H. Turner for the gift from the division on the occasion of their golden wedding. A discussion took place regarding the sending of a parcel of soap, which had been brought to the meeting by .members, to England. It was decided to send it care of the city missions to be distributed to the poor, as it was felt that no one would be sending them individual parcels. It was announced that next meeting would be a birthday party, the guest of honour being Mrs C. McKenzie, a life member.

Th'e meeting closed with the national anthem after which a dainty afternoon tea was served by Mesdames Evans and Tarrant-Hoskings and R. Ecclestone.
