Rain On Peninsula
Heavy rain has fallen almost continuously for some week& on the Coromandel peninsula with disastrous effects to the roads. Slips have occurred all over the county but good work has been done in opening up the roads so that traffic was not held up for very long; Coromandel County Council
At the July meeting of the Coromandel County Council, the chairman, Mr E. Deeble, presided, and also present were Councillors A. Watkins, J. E. Jackson, A. J. Notman, T. E. Simpson, A. J. Denize, and H. C. Bull. In attendance were the county clerk, Mr J. H. Lucas, and the county foreman," Mr E. Orr. Apologies were received from Crs. A. IM. Winstone and William Hamilton. It was resolved at the Coromandel County Council’s July meeting: “that the council raise no objection to the erection 'of a new slip Way at Whitianga provided no encroachment is made between the palm trees and the road and the application be also submitted to the Town Planning Board for approval in its Extra Urban Planning Scheme.”
