GRAZING OF CATTLE TROUBLE ON THE PLAINS DISCUSSION BY COUNCIL A request that the council take steps to prohibit unauthorised grazing on the roads as the cattle were damaging the board’s drains I was received at the July meeting I of the Hauraki Plains County I Council from the secretary of the i Hauraki United Drainage Board, I Mr R. S. Nicol. It was decided to refer the matter to the poundkeeper for action. The clerk, Mr A. E. Mahoney, said one man had! had' his stock all round the T'urua district. The pbundkeeper had been in touch with the offender. The matter was now in the hands of the solicitor. Cr. C. W. Schultz’ said grazing was still going on in parts of the county. Cr. D. IG. McMillan said councillors should assist the poundkeeper by advising' him whose stock were on the road. Cr. F. Pinchess said the poundkeeper’s task was an unpleasant one. Farmers warned one another as soon as he appeared in the district. Cr. S'chultz said mobs grazing around the county should not be permitted. It was decided to advertise, warning offenders of more drastic action.
