’RESULTS OF COMPETITIONS
The monthly meeting' of the Turua Women’s Institute was held on June
The meeting opened with the reading of the aspiration.
A sum of money was sent to the O. & G. appeal. A card was received, from Miss Goldsmith, president of- the English institute, to say that the parcels' from the Turua institute were arriving in good 1 condition. It was decided toehold the institute birthday in August. A demonstration, of felt flowermaking was .given by Mrs Lowe and was appreciated by all members. Mrs Lowe was presented with a shoulder spray.
As Mrs R. Flynn is leaving the district she was presented with a .gift as a token of the esteem in which she is held by institute members. The competitions resulted: Best bloom, Mrs iHicks; hot water bottle covers (to be sent to the Thames hospital), Mrs Beagley; 'bottle of chutney, Mrs Hicks. -.Afternoon tea was served 1 by Mesdames (Scott and Workman, after which the meeting was brought to a close by the singing of the national anthem. 7 ...
