UNITED BEATEN 12 TO NIL

RUGBY ON PAEROA DOMAIN

Before a good crowd at the

Paeroa Domain on Saturday West defeated United in the third game

of the series and have now won

the Paeroa Rugby Union championship for the season.

While giving full credit to West for their win United must be commended for the’’' efforts. Up until half-time the game was fairly even. In the second spell West showed superior combination and staying power and were quick to grasp any opportunity that was offering. Speechlay’s Good Kick

West’s points in the first spell came from a penalty kick at the 2'5. Speechlay hoisted the flags with a good kick.

On resuming O’Loughlin received from a set scrum, sold a dummy and cut through to score a solo. try. The kick failed. From a scrum at West 25 United received the ball but the kick was charged down and Carmichael gathered in the ball to make an 80 yards dash and score a try. The kick was disallowed. Ryall was responsible for the final points. After he had made a good run he kicked for the centre where the West forwards fielded the ball •and carried on for Neil to score a try. The kick missed. Many Kicks Missed The game was remarkable for the number of kicks at goal that were missed.
