WAR MEMORIAL
MEETING TO BE CALLED MAYOR’S ANNOUNCEMENT CHAMBER OF COMMERCE At a meeting of the Paeroa Chamber of Commerce held last week Hut Worship the Mayor stated that it was his intention to call a public meeting to discuss the question of a 'suitable war memorial. He had specially attended the chamber meeting to hear the views of members and to discuss the proposals put forward in the communication to the borough.

It was suggested by the chamber that an initial meeting should be called of representatives' of all active organisations. The deliberations of this meeting could be put into definite proposals which could then be placed before a public meeting. In reply to the question of what organisations would be invited to attend, the secretary read a list of those which had been represented at a similar meeting in Thames, viz., R.|S.A., all churches, borough council, county council, patriotic committee, all sports bodies, Women’s Institute, Rotary Club, Labour National Party, Farmers’ Union and W.jLF'.U., Chamber of Commerce. The Mayor said that he would discuss the matter with his council, and would then decide on the date and form of the meeting, and would advise the chamber.
