WEDDING BELLS

WIHITEIMA'N—(BUCHANAN BRIDE IN WHITE NINON. A wedding of interest to Plains residents was that of Miss Hazel Jean Buchanan, daughter of Mr and Mrs Barlow Buchanan, of Mangatarata, and Mr John Haylock Whiteman, son of Mir* and Mrs> A. Whiteman, at St. George’s Church, Thames on March 21. The Rev F. C. Truman officiated. The bride wore an exquisite gown of white triple ninon, fashioned with a full skirt gathered) to a fitting waistline. A heart-shaped neckline was finished with a deep frill of old lace. The full sleeves were gathered into a lace cuff, and the frock was fastened with a row of' tiny buttons down the centre of the' back. The full train, which fell in soft folds, was'gathered to the pointed waist line. Her embroidered fingertips veil was held in place with a spray of orange blossom, and she carried a shower bouquet of cream and red rose buds. The bride was attended by Miss Ailsa Buchanan, her sister, and Miss Moreen Spear, of Takapuna. The flower girl was Rosemary Buchanan, youngest sister of the bride. Dressed alike, the bridesmaids wore powder organdie over soft taffeta, and head dresses' of pale blue tulle veil, held in place with organdie flowers to tone. The flower girl wore a frock of pink organdie cut on simlar lines to those of the bridesmaids. She carried a silver basket of flower's in pastel shades. The bridesmaids carried beautiful bouquets of carnations and delphiniums in soft shades of pink and blue. The bridle was given away at the church by her father. The bridegroom was attended' by his brother, Mr Norman Whiteman, and Mr Graham. Crooks was groomsman. The guests were received' by Mrs Buchanan and Mrs Whiteman. Mrs Buchanan wore a suit of navy morocane, relieved with a collar and front of dusky pink with navy hat and accessories. The reception was held in the Masonic Hall, at Thames. The bride travelled in a fawn suit with brown accessories.
