WELCOME HOME

KEREPEEHI FUNCTION PRESENTATIONS MADE TWO SERVICEMEN HONOURED There was a good attendance at a welcome home held in the Kerepeehi Hall on Tuesday evening, March 19, in honour of Ptes. W. Williams and A. Fisher who have recently returned from overseas. Music was supplied by the Kerepeehi Rhythm Ramblers and Mt E. Smith, Hikutaia, played the extras. Mr W. Bailey acted as M.C. The Monte Carlo waltzes were won by Miss D. Stitchbury and partner, Misses P. Innis and B. Hayes. The card tourney was won by Mr E : . Stansell and Mr C. Nicholson. In extending a hearty welcome to the two guests of honour, Mr 'Bailey expressed 1 the thanks of all for what they had done, stating that he was proud to have the privilege of extending a welcome to them. He wished both boys a happy future and presented each with a cheque, stating that as they had not had a farewell from Kerepeehi it was what they would have received had they been. Pte. Fisher thanked everyone for the hearty welcome and the Women’s Division and Basketball Club for parcels received while overseas. He concluded with the remark that it was great to be home again. IPte. Williams also thanked the people for the welcome and expressed his appreciation to the Women’s Division, Basketball Club and Mr and Mrs Murray for parcels received.
