TAIRUA SCHOOL

END OF THE YEAR MUSS C. BROPHY HONOURED Parents- and friends attended the annual break-up of the Tairua School, which was held in the Tairua Hall. The children entertained those present- with- several small plays, recita-. tiohs and songs. Then followed, the singing of “Jingle Bells” as the children joined hands and- danced round the Christmas Tree, after which each child' was presented with a gift. The teacher, Miss Shirley Brophy, also received in the form of a gift, a lovely bouquet from the tree. A lovely afternoon tea with ice cream was- enjoyed by all. . A presentation to the teacher, Miss Shirley Brophy, who is leaving the district was made by Mr Amundsen, the chairman of the school committee on behalf of the parents. Miss Cherry Cory-Wright on behalf of the .Tairua basketball team presented Miss Shirley Brophy, the captain, with a lovely writing case. A most enjoyable afternoon ended with the singing of “ Auld Lang Syne.”
