The bandmaster reported on the year’s attendance. The cup winners were Bandsmen T. H. Barrett and Dyson Gilliver, equal with 4'B out of a possible 49 points. The president’s report read as undter: — “At the outset it gives me very great pleasure to say that this annual meeting is perhaps the most important for many years, in that it heralds the return of our boys after many years of service to uphold the traditions we cherish so much. I will ask you all at this stage to express from the bottom of your hearts the thankfulness we feel at their safe return after so many years of all that war stands for.

“The number on the roll (24), shows a decrease of two over the year. This is due only to the fact that some of the younger members have left the district to further their studies, etc. The attendance on all occasions has been very satisfactory as the roll book will show. This goes to demonstrate the real band spirit which existed throughout the year. We regret to record the departure of Mr Powley from the district. His efforts in contributing so much towards the band’s progress are reflected in the manner whereby a number of his pupils play their parts.

“Again, as in previous years, we are indebted to Mr A. E. Sutcliffe, bandmaster of the Thames Citizens’ Band, for the interest he has shown in our band. He has once more contributed some valuable music and I am going to suggest that some recognition be made to show our appreciation of his assistance to us.

“The number of the band’s performances during the year has probably been the i most called for in very many years. Outstanding among These being the celebrations in connection with the cessation of hostilities with Germany and Japan and the welcoming home of many of our boys.

“An appreciation of the band’s work was again shown by the Our thanks go out to these ladies and we trust that our efforts will be such that they will merit a continuance of the confidence placed in the band.

“Our Boxing Night dance was again the usual success and we look forward to even better results this year when the function will be held in a clearer atmosphere now that the war is over. The picnic at Long Bay was held in good weather and another record was reached in the collection for the sports prize money. This must surely go to show the popularity of our park and also the band’s annual picnic.

“There have been no heavy calls on the band’s funds during the. year and the finances are in a very healthy conditions as will be shown in the balance sheet. “In conclusion I wish to thank the bandimaster, the secretary and all members of the band for their most loyal support during my term of office and I trust that the congenial spirit which has prevailed throughout the year will continue.
