PAEROA WEDDING

SON BRIDE IN IVORY SATIN GOWN A pretty wedding took place on Saturday, November 24, at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Paeroa, when Hilda, elder daughter of Mrs and the late Mr R. Hodson, Junction road, Paeroa, was married to Norman Edward, youngest son of Mrs and the late Mr W. J. Rackham of Karangahake. The Rev. G. T. Hughes, of Waihi, was the officiating minister while Mrs H. Darby presided at the organ. The church had beer, beautifully decorated by friends of the bride.

The bride, who was given away by Mr C. Bath of Karangahake, wore a frock of ivory embossed satin with a tulle neckline. The bodice at the back was buttoned from neck to waistline with tiny buttons while the circular train was edged with pleated tulle. A

halo of tulle and real orange blossom held her veil in place and she carried a bouquet of white roses, carnations and maidenhair fern. In attendance as bridesmaids were Miss A. M. Hodson of (Paeroa (sister of the bride), and Miss E. E. Atkinson of Hamilton, who were dressed alike in frocks of sunset georgette over satin. The long-waisted bodices were ruched in panels and the skirts were very full. The yokes of the frocks were edged with silver lace and the necklines were heart-shaped. Their head-dresses comprised pink carnations and they carried bouquets of pink carnations and blue delphiniums.

Mr Don Hourigan of Auckland was best man and Mr Brian Deere of Wanganui acted as groomsman. After the ceremony a reception was held in the Parish Hall where Mrs Hodson received her guests, wearing a frock of black crepe romaine with black accessories and a shoulder spray of white carnations. Mrs Rackhaim’ who also assisted in receiving the guests wore a floral frock with black edge-to-edge coat and black accessories. Her spray was of delphiniums. When Mr and’ Mrs N. E. Rackham left later by car the bride was; wearing a two-piece suit of sage green satin-backed crepe with black accessories and grey coat.
